Title : Through the Looking-Glass II (Bedroom) - experimental augmented version
Year: 2023-2024 Series of photographs combining analog photography with AI-generated images.
The machine has visually translated the universe that I have been exploring in my artistic practice over the past years. Indeed, it is through language (which is also at the core of my practice) that these images are generated. They will be part of the ongoing series I have been exploring in analog photography. Language is of great importance to my work, and this new technology allows me to explore new creative and stimulating territories. Similar to developing a film that brings forth surprises, the AI is integrated into a process that plays with randomness and the unexpected. About the photographic project: «Through the Looking-Glass» is originally a series of 10 analog photographs that reveal glimpses of body imprints through double exposure of the film. A ghostly and melancholic universe unfolds for the viewers, where the body reveals itself or fades away, time stands still, and the landscape transforms into an intimate territory. Through this series, the invisible becomes visible, the unknown becomes perceptible. «Through the Looking-Glass» represents for me the world turned upside down, the realm of dreams, the duality, and the transformation of the body. The psychoanalytic aspect frequently traverses my photographic projects. In this new series of images, I wanted to delve even deeper into the psychoanalytic aspect. The forest, in particular, is a prevalent element throughout. The forest intrigues and unsettles because it is filled with mystery. It awakens the imagination, fears, and dreams. Nature serves as inspiration. Psychiatric disorders are heightened, and anxiety progressively fills the space. Civilization ceases to exist. Outside of time, the body takes root in the earth, in the material. Is it a prisoner?
